Heathcote into 1-Day Final this Sunday

Hi All,

The 2B boys have won their way through a well earned 2B One Day Final this Sunday. Thanks to their efforts Heathcote will be making it’s first appearance at CCA club finals day with Premier, 2A and 2B one day finals all being played at Hagley Park on Sunday.

The game will start at 10.30am and will be between Heathcote & Addington on Hagley 6.

Yesterday they had a comprehensive victory over Riccarton, dismissing the visiting team for 118 with Jason Barnao taking 4/32. In reply Heathcote passed the Riccarton total for the loss of only 3 wickets with Jeff Edge leading the way with 59.

So mark it on your diary to make some time to be at Hagley 6 this Sunday to support the boys.

19 Nov 2011 – HCC Cavaliers vs Pirates

Home at Hillsborough Domain

Result – Win

Saturday was a cracker for 20:20 cricket. HCC Cavaliers were playing the Pirates at Hillsborough Domain on a sunny Christchurch afternoon. Rog won the toss and we batted first on a very good track (if you like pace and bounce!). Eug Macfarlane and Ralph Bungard got us off to a solid start. Eug decided a partnership of 69 was enough (out for 30 odd), but Ralph carried on solidly to retire for 41. In the meantime Dave Stanley smashed the Pirates bowlers all over the park and scored 30 odd which put us in a commanding position. No other batting highlights except for the banter that amounted when yours truly was given “not out” to an over eager appeal for stumping. Pirates didn’t particularly like this, even though their skipper was standing beside the square leg umpire and agreed, so Jonno Lambert kindly reminded them whose home ground it was well into the next innings. We scored a healthy 153/3 off 20 overs.

After the break Dave Stanley and Matt (scorebook) Hoole started the bowling nicely – and a constant flow of wickets (sparked by a running, diving, sliding catch at point by Richie) saw Pirates bundled out for 102. Matt and Shrimpo took 3 wickets each with the others shared between Dave, Richie, and Eug.

Thats the second win in a row for the lads and one to keep the winning captain Roger “how many overs left?” Georgeiff very happy. Sitting in the sun, having a cool drink and taking the mickey out of each other is always more fun after a good win, and hopefully there’s more drinks to go round next week!

Goring CC Fundraiser for HCC

On the southern cost of Cornwall in England there is a small cricket club with a big heart. Through their association with the Celtic CC in Timaru, Gorran were made aware of our situation and took it upon themselves to organise a charity cricket match in our honour. This humbling gesture saw a New Zealand XI comprising Kiwis on the cricketing OEs playing in the area, playing a Gorran CC XI in a 20 over fixture. Local businesses got on board and donated food, the club ran raffles and donated the bar proceeds to our rebuilding fund.

Sadly rain stopped play with the NZ XI 45/1 after 7 overs, having earlier stood to attention during the national anthems. Despite the early wet finish the day was thoroughly enjoyed but hose that took part as the photos show. Heathcote CC was delighted and very grateful to receive a donation of NZ$1500 from the festivities.

To the members and supporters of Gorran CC, and in particular Chairman Andy House – we thank you very much for your hard work, support & valued donation.

Donation Received From NZIFCR

HCC has been fortunate to receive a donation of $3000 from NZ International Fellowship of Cricketing Rotarians (NZIFCR) towards their rebuilding fund. NZIFCR President, Jock Hannah, presented the cheque TO HCC Club Captain, Ian Cartwright, at a breakfast meeting hosted by the Christchurch Sunrise Club last week. HCC has a long history with NZIFCR, through mutual former member the late Brian Morgan and as a host for their local matches. HCC very much appreciates the NZIFCR donation, the work of club member Gary Masters in it’s facilitation and looks forward to again hosting the NZIFCR at Heathcote Domain.
